The Sokoto State Police Command is to beef up security around markets, banks and other commercial premises across the state following security breaches around such places.
The command named rampant car thefts around bank Automated Teller Machines, especially at nights and several armed robbery cases as some of such breaches.
The Sokoto State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Abdulkadir who spoke at a stakeholders’ meeting with traders at the old market, Sokoto, through the Police Public Relations Officer, Elmustapha Sani, urged traders and management of the banks to be more proactive in complementing the efforts of the various security agencies.
He assured that the police would continue to be proactive to nip such crimes in the bud.
He however added: “We need more reliable intelligence reports from the public.’’
Speaking on behalf of the traders, Alhaji Ladan Almustapha lauded the efforts of the police command towards ensuring safety of lives and property in the state.
