PEOPLE cheat for all kinds of reasons, but it’s your gender that determines why you might be unfaithful.
When it comes to women, ladies tend to play the field if they feel emotionally deprived – while men are most likely to stray if they’re dissatisfied with the physical side of their relationship.
Research shows that women often wander when they feel they have an emotional void with their other half and feel lonely.
Men tend to cheat when they feel they’re not getting enough sex at home or they’re becoming sexually attracted to someone else.
Marriage and family therapist Winifred Reilly says: “Women tell me, ‘I was lonely, not connected, I didn’t feel close to my partner, and I was taken for granted.’
“They say they wanted to have someone who would look into their eyes and make them feel sexy again.”
While Rutgers University biological anthropologist Helen Fisher, author of Why Him? Why Her? and Why We Love, says women are more likely than men to fall in love with the person they cheated with.
Ladies are also more likely to cheat if their mothers cheated too – with a recent study finding that 71 per cent of cheating women revealing that their mother had also strayed.
